So often we take for granted those who, without any expectations of applause, give of themselves willingly and freely. Thousands daily make some kind of sacrifice, whether it's arising at dawn to make a living for their families, or showing love for the unlovely, they give and give. This little poem is my simple way of saying "Thank you."

Group-think--ever hear of it? Much of it occurs in the 21st century. If for some reason or another we always think like the group, we group-think. Belonging to healthy groups of individuals is rewarding and in many cases results in positive experiences. But, when we feel pressured into taking upon ourselves the opinions of others in the group (though in our hearts, we feel they are wrong), we should logically weigh the truth, or common sense, of the opinions and think for ourselves, because opinions are not facts.

Father's Day is a day set aside by our country for the purpose of honoring dads, alive or passed on. Mine has passed on; but through memory, he lives--he lives within my heart. This little story is my tribute to him and to other fathers who live quiet, family-devoted lives day-by-day, with no expectations of thank-yous.

Sometimes we misjudge other people, including our neighbors. Each one of us is both a saint and a sinner and would be wise to leave the judging of our fellowman to the Supreme Judge. None of us is actually able to "walk in the other's shoes" very well.
