My husband was chosen elder of our newly formed church this past summer.  What a perfect title to be given and to follow....elder...shepherd!  We have gathered food for the less fortunate and headed up the benevolent ministry at our previous church for the past 3 years.  It never did seem like something we had to think about, you just help others.  We would go to garage sales and ask the owners what they were going to do with the left overs.  The response was overwhelming.  We had a storage unit full of clothes, dishes and furniture in no time.  At the same time, we asked fellow brothers and sisters in Christ to bring some non perishables to start a food pantry.  Another great response.  Some even gave money, so we were able to buy gift cards to stores.  It really is so simple.  Just go about life,  doing what Jesus would want you to do.  Be kind, be a friend,  and always try to help those in need.  Sometimes it isn't material things someone needs...it's just a kind word or prayer~
