Hi, I'm new to this blogging. I liked the idea of a site which aimed to change people for the better.

I live in England, where right now times are tough. As a GP, I hear so many tales of despair. After all, people only come to me when they are ill. However, there are moments of joy when people get better, or a child is born and I am there to support her through that precarious start. Sometimes, I see really great people: people who selflessly care for their family, putting their own lives on hold in uncomplaining duty; people who express gratitude for their life and the path they were given; people who just have that inner peace and strive for nothing, believing that the universe will unfold what it has to offer.

As someone who has always lived in the future and chased endless dreams- to live by the sea, to work for myself, to earn a living as a writer, to do charitable works and so on- I suddenly realised only last month that this was now and it was all that I could count on. So I had better start counting my blessings and tending to what I already had. And when I looked it was considerable. A loving marriage, a beautiful dog, a home facing a beautiful wood clough and the potential to run my own business working in alternative health.

So two weeks ago I stopped looking into the empty future and starting living in the present. Actually,  I started BEING present. What a difference a fortnight makes! I found premises to start my alternative practice, started writing comedy on a blog ( not this one but, if you want me to make you laugh I will do so) and started to let go of past toxicity.

The moral of this tale?  I agree with Anita, you have to shift perspective. Thought does precede action and positive thought is more likely to lead to positive action. So I'm sticking with this winning formula.
