In an earlier blog I wrote about John Pippus, also
his album BORN A GENIUS  which featured such
memorable tunes as Shopping Cart Joe, and also
about the songwriting team of John Pippus and
Lucy Leblanc...

There is just so much going on for Pippus I wanted
to update some of those things. Over a fairly short
period John Pippus has some major work, albums such as WRAPPED UP IN THE BLUES, ORPHANS AND SINGLES, BORN A GENIUS,
and a most impressive work called THIS CITY. As well as SONG TOURIST. Stopping to listen to material from THIS CITY, gems such as Oh, Oh,Oh duet with Nat Jay, My First Mistake and the very stark and lonesome, This City.

Still an artist to be concerned about the poor, the homeless, the down and out, the occupy movement, John Pippus burns the midnight oil
coming up with even more gems. John is a man on a mission, a singer/songwriter on a roll.  Being not only a musician, John Pippus is a gifted actor and playwright...some of his influences being John Hiatt, Tom Waits, even Kris Kristopherson...

Going back to the lonely tune, This City, that struck a special note with this blogger, reminding me a little of the late John Lee Hooker. I was in
Chicago many years ago and had written an article about John Lee Hooker and had the pleasure of sitting in a Chicago blues club and getting to meet
the legend himself, Mr. Hooker. The blues are still alive and well although they play for smaller venues, still always an appreciative audience, those of us who find magic and wonder, in the blues...and just perhaps the strong feeling of living the blues is found a great deal in those two precious albums, Wrapped up in the blues and This City...

You can listen to more of John Pippus on his website (easy to find) and also some of the co-written material of Pippus-Leblanc on Midnight Mama Music website....

Right on John. Keep on keeping on. Cool, very cool.
