In my last blog I wrote about how to meditate upon your chakras. This is a basic formula that works beautifully and will start to get the energy flowing. What I didn't explain is what a blockage is, what it feels like, and how to remove it. If you re-read the blog I wrote about chakras it will help you to continue on into this next step of encountering and dealing with blockages. Blocks appear when you deny your own knowing, or conform to someone else's knowning. Further, when ever there is a any form of abuse, domination, oremotional distress a blockage can be formed. Where they are formed is largely determined on what area of your body is most affected by the emotions. If you are abused by a parent, spouse, friend, or really anyone you trust, the most likely blockage will be in your heart chakra. Depending on the type of a buse will determine which others may be affected. Sexual abuse generally will not only block the heart but will almost always affect the sacral chakra as well. Although emotional blockages will occur in the heart they do not often show up in the sacaral chakra. By using our past we can normally intuitively get a pretty good idea of where some of our blockages are. Just by knowing our past can give us some very good clues to where we may have trouble. For example, if a child is constantly scolded and told what to do and over parented he or she will almost always develop and imbalance in the solar plexus, which is where the power center of the body is located. Sometimes depending on personality, some may get over dominant and controlling while others become complacent and unable to make decisions or feel confident. A blockage can go one of two ways, become over dominant or it can become under dominant. Either way it is an imbalance that needs correcting. All of this aside there is another simple way to detect an imbalance. When you do the meditation that I have given on the chakras there is a way to sense the blockage. Each time you draw the breath and intentionally move the energy with you will through each of the chakras you will begine to note that when you hit a blockage the energy will build in that area. Everyone knows what it feels like to have an infection in your finger. If you stand up and your hand hangs down the finger will start to throb and pulse. A blockage will do the same thing. You don't need to stand up to feel it, it will automatically build a pressure as though the energy is backing up and can't pass through it. What to do? Stop and focus on that particular chakra and practice your will on asking it to open and release what ever is stored there. You may go through periods of emotional upheaval as it releases what ever has caused it to begin with. Some people remember things that upset them that were the cause. Others get angry or sad. Not to worry, after awhile you begin to understand it really doesn't matter what has caused the condition and you are just interested in removing it. It isn't a bad idea to discontinue the regular meditation and focus solely on the blockage for a number of nights until you feel relief. Then go back to the regular meditation and feel around for more trouble spots. For what to expect next and why we do the work on chakras? Look for my next blog.
