As I wrote in my little biography, my name is Gianna, and I am a hard working college student in Southwest Florida. I am 23 years old, and I am engaged to an awesome guy named Greg who keeps me laughing and thinking.

I have always been interested in the affairs of the world. I think I got it from my grandparents who were always trying to make things better for others. They took in refugees from Laos, Africa, and more, were active on their church mission committee for decades, traveled to other states and countries to help rebuild homes after disasters had struck, and a lot more. My grandmother is just one of these people that make everything better. Her soul is warm, calm and loving. In her presence, it is nearly impossible to be anything but content. My grandfather and his family came to this country from Nazi Germany with nothing. My grandfather told me once that the first time in his young life that he felt completely safe was when he first saw the Statue of Liberty as the boat he came on pulled into Ellis Island.

Especially I think, because of my grandfathers’ origins, I have always been concerned with Civil Liberties, and ending the suffering of others, here and everywhere. That has been my motivation for all of the charity work and volunteering I have done. It is the reason I have been interested in politics, and chosen philosophy as my college major.

It has come to my attention that one of the things that I have not paid enough attention to is the environment, and how I can affect others with my own related choices.

The project I am starting with this blog will mainly be concerned with my decision to positively affect the environment. However, I am sure many of my other concerns will spill over.

I hope I can inspire others to do more to preserve our planet for others.
