There is such a variety of voices and sounds and instruments that make country music what it is. I was playing Slim Whitman and his great version of
Indian Love Call. Slim certainly had a huge influence on country music, but then so did Johnny Cash and Hank Snow and even that guitar picker Jerry Reed, who once did a beautiful version of Guitar Man with Elvis Presley.  Apparantly Jerry was out fishing when an agent for Presley called and asked about using the song Guitar Man. Jerry replied...the only way you are going to do that...is if I play with Elvis in the studio and so they did and the result was a stunning version of Guitar Man.

There are just so many great stories about the great folks who make country music, from the Cowboys to the legends such as Patsy Cline. And just so many that its difficult to remember them all.

There are those who yodel, those who have a special finger picking style such as Jerry Reid, those who sing about love and love lost, music that grabs onto our heart and holds us close. Music that reminds us of earlier days, of special places and special friends. And only country music can do that.

This is one of thousands of tributes to that huge industry known as country music and may it continue but hopefully not loose touch with the earlier and simpler sounds....

Turn up your radio and take time to listen to some of those great voices who take us on a journey to
Nashville and home, all in a few minutes, a journey we just don't want to end....

God Bless you, Country Music!!
