Almost everyone has heard of Ian Tyson, from the time he was part of that once young couple we all knew as Ian and Sylvia.  But now time has caught up to Ian, as it does to all of us in certain respects,
yet with the gravel voice, we recognize a special person under the cowboy hat, a writer of notable fame from the first time we heard FOUR STRONG WINDS...

You might find Ian down at his ranch in Longview which is the southern part of the famed cowboy trail which continues north to Mayerthorpe.  I have
travelled that route many years, by plane and car,
taking aerial shots along the way. But during that time, Ian was busy writing some of his best material. And on a cold winter night when you hear the songs of this incredible songwriter you simply want the songs to go on and on. We probably have a few Ian Tyson music nights in our household on cold winter nights, when we listen to Ian singing about SPRINGTIME  IN ALBERTA or about putting up your collar as the cold wind blows. The words of a cowboy, now mellow but still very beautiful in the senior years of his life. And his material which was written over many years shall continue to get airplay, certainly songs that would never gather dust, they are inspirational and have a story.
And its a story only Ian Tyson could write about,
as he sings in one beautiful song....THIS IS MY SKY...and yes it is Ian. And we share your view of
the cowboys and this beautiful place we call
Alberta...
