I hope one day I get a phone call or letter from World Vision and they invite me on a journey to
visit  some of the impoverished families. I am sure
life would never be the same....

I could not help but notice how one of the more popular gifts (2 hens and a rooster) become an instant source of food - and a lasting source of hope...and only $50.

What happens is as follows:
firstly, a chicken gets delivered to a family. secondly, each chicken can lay up to 150 eggs to eat and lastly more chickens are born to sell. Just
a revolving gate of hope.

So many things. Such as bees, or fish, or pigs which are easy to raise. Then there are sheep,
alpacas, goats, anti-biotics and medicines.

And basic things like toys, school supplies,
And so surprising, World Vision tells us that one
in eight children in Canada live in poverty. So its
not just places overseas, but right here...in our
own community. Thats why the food banks always seem short of supplies...and this winter is supposed to be one of the colder ones.

However, back to World Vision, we are told that
100 million girls and boys live on the street around the world. Sexually exploited children. Girls forced into early marriages.

World Vision is a Christian relief, development and
advocacy organization dedicated to working with
children, families and communities to overcome
poverty. A huge task indeed, but our prayers go to all those involved in this wonderful wonderful
organization.  And its not only Christmas when
help is needed. So maybe you will do something
different this year, such as giving a goat, and a warm blanket. Our own lives are richer as a result.
