I was like that, like some of you, many of you - who are not very tolerant of different music forms.
I thought Rap should be scrap and just could not
get into some of the early music from the thirties.
I thought to myself, why should I even bother?

Well, fact is, others beg to differ. Some really like
opera, some do not. Some of us getting older suddenly begin to see the light and realize how much of understanding and appreciation begin with
the word tolerance. And tolerance has a lot to do with maturity, in my opinion. Does not mean if you
are intolerant to something - that you are  immature, simply that getting older  (supposedly) getting wiser we are supposed to be more tolerant.
But still, many of us are not.

So perhaps what you can do, and I found this helpful- is to immerse yourself in the very subject
you find distasteful, learn about it, give it a chance...and just maybe you will have turned the
page, to a new level of tolerance and maturity...
