THE MAFIA

Some years ago I worked as a property manager and received a phone call from an individual who
wanted to view a building that was available for lease. I met this party (who has now passed away) at a local hotel and found him sweeping the outdoor sidewalk when I arrived for my appointment. I found this person friendly and
polite. He simply wanted to view a building and
perhaps consider opening a restaurant. I arranged to show this person the building. He arrived with two very tough looking gentlemen. They even joked that they could hang the property manager from the rafters if a could deal could not be made.
I chuckled along with a nervous cough. Something was making me feel a little uneasy. And it was much later I found out that this person controlled several companies and was reported to be known as a member of the mafia.

Another one of those, don't judge the book by the cover situations.

However, as it turned out, the building did not get leased out, the party interested changed their mind and in the midst of all the confusion I was left 
with a question and trying to understand how this secret organization survives with its code of secrecy...
 My decision was not to try to understand or learn anything further about it...rather.....leave it alone....for as Mr. Hoover, former director of the FBI once said, these individuals look after their own,,,and if you leave them alone...there is nothing to worry about....

Perhaps we have seen too many movies that portray a very dark side to an organization that
does everything possible to be ignored...
but the fact is, out there somewhere....is a real
organization...called....THE MAFIA!!
