August already!! Summer is half gone. Many of us are moving into the
autumn of our lives. We are not moving as quick, taking shorter trips,
taking more time to enjoy a sunrise or sunset. And indeed, the years
go by. Friends younger than ourselves have passed on. Older parents
have become a memory and we get a jolt when asked whether we are
a senior. Will you be taking advantage of the senior prices Sir? Do you
need help with those groceries Ma'am?  Get the picture?

Gray hair and back pain. Or as Poet Leonard Cohen wrote in one
of his songs ..."I ache in places where I used to play..."

But there is an upside here. Perhaps more time to enjoy things you
always wanted to...a discovery of having a grandson or granddaughter.
Watching younger folks make the same foolish mistakes we made.
And yes, getting help with the groceries. White hair is not all bad.

Perhaps we need to move forward into the autumn of our lives with a
grand feeling of joy, a new look at an old world from a different
perspective. The world has gotten older as we have.

And yes, there will come a time for due dilligence. Making a will.
Deciding on who gets what! Oh, what the heck - why worry?
Not much you can do about it. Just try to think young. And maybe in
so doing, we shall keep ourselves in touch with that new group of
go-getters out there - much like we were - once....
