Nothing could be more frustrating than when you are really off track than some well meaning person who is on track trying to tell you what to do to get back on track. The best thing they could do for you or you could do for them is to reassure them that everything they are feeling and going through has a special purpose and meaning in their life. It is necessary, productive, and not something that you should be trying to rid yourself of. This is how you move, this is how you change, this is how you become more. By feeling the feeling of being off. You can't hear the call of someone who is at a higher place when you are at a lower one. Sometimes it can even do the opposite and drive us lower. Its kind of like going out to dinner with someone who has just won the lottery as opposed to someone who works at the same place that you do. You are on different levels. You could feel out of your league or you could be having a nice time. The point is to have some kind of consideration for yourself and allowance of moving through the difficult times when they come. What is it that brings us out of them? Most times it is time. We can feel disappointed in ourselves because we are not perfect, we can be disappointed for not being positive, but do we ever think to be grateful that we are at least noticing and striving to be more, to be better, to feel better. The more I loathe the things I do not do well enough, the worse I become at them. The more I make allowances for the things I do not do well enough the better I become at them. Most times when we do not feel good it is because we are comparing ourselves to someone else who seems to be doing better. Someone else doesn't mind being alone, someone else doesn't mind staying at home, someone else doesn't have trouble socializing, and so it goes. Do you think you will ever find a time when won't be someone who is doing something just a little better than you are? It is the differences in people that make life interesting and exciting. It's the upheavals, the challenges, the struggles in life that make it all seem so worthwhile. Raising children is a perfect example of this. You give them life, you teach them, you nurture them, and they go on their own way. But, there were struggles, challenges, misunderstandings, disappointments, proud moments, grateful moments, and a whole list of experiences both good and bad. In the end when we have done the best we could do you feel good overall. So whether it is raising a child or living your own life you will experience the contrast and through it will come great rewards. Just as you became a better parent you will become a better person. So when you are feeling a bit off or out of sorts rather than patronizing yourself for not being better at this than you are accept your humanness and what it is teaching you about life. We didn't come here to be perfect we came here to learn how to perfect and that comes with making a few mistakes along the way.
