St. Jude wedding favors enable couples to say 'I do' to fighting childhood cancer

June is the most popular month for weddings. . . and on that note, I'd like to share with all of you a wonderful, enlightening idea!

Last year attending my cousin's wedding, I was so thrilled at what a wonderful  idea they had instead of handing out wedding favors. . . they choose a unique way to celebrate the beginning of their life together—by saying “I do” to fighting childhood cancer. How wonderful is that. . .

In lieu of wedding favors, they made a donation to St. Jude's Children's hospital.  Yet another candle, or wine stopper, little picture frame. . . I can think of no better way, then taking that money and donating it to help with the medical costs that are incurred by families. Being a long time donor myself of St. Jude's Children's Hospital, I am aware through  the years, of the many financially obligations for a parent of a sick child, many exceed insurance benefits, and with both parents wanting to be by their child side, there are airline flight costs,  loss of wages, living expenses at the hospital, some can't pay their mortgages because they want to be by their child's side. Through the years St. Jude's Children's Hospital has helped family members with all costs, no family is ever turned away from St. Jude's, thanks to generous donations, by so many, people like my cousins who choose to make a smart decision when starting out their life's journey.

The St. Jude Wedding Tribute program offers couples two wedding favors from which to choose—either a bookmark or a scroll. The high-quality favors explain that the couple has made a donation to St. Jude on their behalf so that the hospital's groundbreaking research and life-saving care may continue. Either of these caring keepsakes may be personalized with the bride and grooms names as well as the wedding date.

The wedding favors are available on a donation basis. We want to make them available while staying within the couple's budget.  As a result, we don't have a minimum but suggest that couples donate the amount that would have been spent or budgeted for traditional wedding favors.

All of these options present an opportunity that is meaningful for the bride and groom, the wedding guests and countless children worldwide who are fighting cancer and other catastrophic diseases.
