of my life~
Having so  very little ....seemed like  we had so much ~ and we did~  ~When we were kids  living in a tiny house that grandpa built~there was always something to  do ~  In the winter  some of   the windows would freeze in the inside .Especially when it was dreadfully cold,   But we used to find a couple of pennys.. and make designs in the ice along the window,Mom had to carry coal   for the stove and empty the ashes~to keep the hose warm.
In the fall  when the very big garden that mom and dad would plant ...... served as a playground where our older brother ......would build us a merry go round  .... which we played on for hours on end,
In the summer the raspberry   bushes   gave us special treats,    The first person that went out to the outhouse...in the morning as we did not have indoor plumbing for many years until we were in our teens..got the red raspberries off the bushes   and ate them ... Wow they were ever so delicious. The garden also served as an outdoor skating rink  in the winter  which our older brother and dad also made throwing water on it with buckets. until it froze into a nice skating rink which we all enjoyed  all winter long~   We did not have running water which meant  no water hose.It was  all done by hand~
When mom wanted to make something special like  *Jello*  which we now make in the refridgerator  or *Ice cream pie*   Mom would make these goodies  by putting it out in the snow until it was set.  then of course it was extra special~It was almost like magic~
Having mom go outside and bringing it in for us..
When it snowed a lot mom would take us out to visit our grandparents~   who lived a short way away ~and of course our little brother was the youngest so he  was the one who rode on the sled and we all helped mom pull the sled   ~ What fun it was~
We never went hungry as mom and dad always had a large garden which provised us with food as mom canned and had potatoes  and  vegetables put away for the winter in our little dirt basement~Well   wonderful memories   ~ for sure and we can not turn back the pages~ But those were some of  the best years~ of my life~
