Watching the Olympics is always fascinating to me!

Today, Apolo Ohno really stood out...for more than one reason!

First, I got to watch a behind the scenes view of his training!  Incredible!  The man does 4 (2 hour) workouts a day!!!!  8 hours a day of working out!  I feel good when I get 2 hours in...what a perspective!

Second, the speed skating races were today.  It was the finals, and Apolo was in 4th place coming around the bend to the finish line.  You could tell that he was doing all that he could, and that his determination was still strong (despite being out of medal reach).  Suddenly, the 2nd & 3rd place skaters tripped over each other & wiped out.  Apolo ended up receiving the Silver medal...his 6th Olympic medal!

He could have seen the finish line & the three guys in front of him & allowed discouragement to set in. But, he didn't give up!  His determination outweighed his discouragement.

Apolo was an inspiration to me today!  His is the determination that I want to have!  I might not have 8 hours a day to work out at the gym, but I will do everything I can to make the best of what I do have!

"Permanence, perseverance and persistence in spite of all obstacles, discouragement and impossibilities: It is this, that in all things distinguishes the strong soul from the weak." ~Thomas Carlyle
