“Prepare yourself for the world, as the athletes used to do for their exercise; oil your mind and your manners, to give them the necessary suppleness and flexibility; strength alone will not do” ~Lord Chesterfield

Flexibility is a weakness of mine...not only in reference to exercise, but also in life.

When I was in college, I was required to take a Life Fitness class...ugh.  On the first day of class, I wore jeans...I knew that we wouldn't be doing any exercise that day, and that it would only be an overview class.  WRONG!  Flexibility was what they focused on that day...so, they had us all on the floor to test our flexibility.  All I could think of was..."seriously, my flexibility is horrible to begin with, and I wore JEANS!"

Out of the entire class, they pointed to me & said "you really need to work on your flexibility!"  The class had 50+ kids....yet, I was singled out.  Yes…that's how bad it is!!!

With life, I can be equally non-flexible.  When plans get changed at the last minute, it flusters & frustrates me.  For the most part, I can go with the flow & not stress about things.  But, when something is planned & the plans change, my mind goes crazy.  Or, when plans are made without conferencing me in...that is a huge pet peeve of mine!  I need to be in the loop.

It's something that I really need to work on!

I'm stretching at the gym to work on my physical flexibility.  Now, I just need to work on my mental flexibility.

“Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not be bent out of shape.” ~unknown

Next time you see me, I'll be Gumby!  :o)
