Mindfulness is kind of the opposite of explaining things, it's all about keeping the mindset of openness or "I don't really know" attitude. So when the teachers, especially Eastern world ones, try to explain it to us Westerners, a lot gets lost in translation.

Add in the fact that most of us have trained ourselves to "try hard" at achieving things and you end up with a bunch of instincts that come up during meditation that counter-act the mindfulness.

I love how this article dubunks so many of the meditation myths very effectively without having tons of explanation that gets lost in translation. I teach hardcore insomniacs how to cure their insomnia... and I plan on quoting this article... I'll give credit & link... great stuff man.

I have had many profound experiences while meditating and all of them were done with non-mainstream techniques. I believe in every being and that we all have our own way of doing things that will serve us best. We all like to share our experiences so we have some markers along the way, but must always be careful that we know that our experience will be in themselves unique and individual. Thanks again, always to hear positive feedback, I appreciated it. Robin

I have done alot of meditating with some very good experiences and have as I said been very comfortable and allowing while doing it. The article I wrote on the Kundalini experience is one of the things that I encountered while meditating. Working with energy centers and opening them up is something that you can work on in meditation. Thanks for your response.
