But it sounds to me that are still mired in the shame/guilt of failure.  Right after you say you see them as 'learning days', you still refer to these days as failure..  it's you user name even!  

There is no failure, there are only experiences.  You can choose to continue judging yourself as a failure, or you can see all this as an experiment, albeit a painful one, in which you now know very clearly what does not work.  That is NOT failure, it is life.  We always fall down when we first learn to walk and I think you really do understand that, so please try to let go of the self judgments!  You are not defined by your relationship - you are still a good person.
