I grew up with very little, so I've learned to problem-solve when there was little. I have lived in Canada in the 1970's and 1980's and I must say that Canada has indeed been influenced by the "Spend Now" mindset of the U.S. From the WalMart Ethic standpoint, the economic collapse is actually good for the souls of our two nations who call themselves "cousins" - it will strengthen our character and our resolve in times of economic deprivation!
Thank you John for speaking out!<br/><br/>

Growing up with no Walmart was....well....growing up without Walmart. We managed. But a secret: Yes, I do shop at Walmart now that its there. And here. And everywhere.
But such fine advice Mary Benedet, Only buy it if you need it, the car lasts as long as you take care of it and every week put something in the bank and at the end of the year you'll have something. Just lovely.<br/><br/>

My grandfather passed down a few good ones I thought I'd mention.
"Only buy it if you need it"
"The car will last as long as you take care of it"
"Every week put something in the bank, at the end of the year you'll have something"<br/><br/>
