The scale totally sabotages any of my efforts to lose weight as well......On one hand the scale is an awesome companion when looking at the truth!!! but on the other hand we cannot become obsessed with it..... Everyday I try to let go of the pull of the food, be aware of my emotional eating and get in tune to head hunger....... when it is head hunger.... I retreat to other activities...such as blogging..etc.... to walk away from the temptation to eat when I am not truly hungry... (stomach growl). My problem with weight lies within my hungry heart...not necessarily my true stomach hunger..... for me I am trying to become aware of true hunger and let head hunger free..... everyday is a step in the right direction...never get discouraged..... always move forward...... keep pressing on...towards the prize... a healthy body.....and all unnecessary eating a thing of the past... keep your focus on other activities........ and the prize.....
I know you can do it..... make everyday a new day all on its own.... new start everyday.......and you will reach your destiny!!!!

The scale, like most things in life, is definitely good in moderation.
I just have to learn boundaries with things like this!

I'm very competitive by nature (even against myself), and when I have a goal, I like to see improvements with each day.

However, it's not always healthy to do so.

SO, I'm creating those boundaries for myself.

And, I too struggle with eating when I'm not necessarily hungry. The apples have really helped with that! I eat 1 or 2 when I feel the need to eat.

Thanks again for the encouragement! You too will reach your goals :o)

Blessings!

But If I'm going to be honest with you then I have to tell you that I think you should throw that darn scale out the window and FORGET ABOUT IT! Don't weigh yourself at all - not even once a week. If you are doing all the right things (and you are!) then the weight will come off. Think about how incredibly meaningless weight really is - just going to the moon you'd drop lots and lots of weight but it wouldn't change how healthy you are. Weight means absolutely NOTHING and it's sickening how much emphasis gets placed on it in our society. Go by how your clothes fit, how you FEEL physically and emotionally and forget the rest.

I love you! I KNOW that you can do this, I believe in you. I also wish quite often that all our flickr friends lived in the same area. It would be nice to have such wonderful support so close by. Since it's not really possible I am at least thankful that I know you at all! I know there are a million times where just talking to you guys has turned my day completely around. xoxo

It was so encouraging since I was at 6 lbs, forever. Soooo I worked harder on the treadmill, been super careful not to go over my calories. I get on the scale today, Saturday, and I'm back to 6 lbs.! WOT!

Like yourself, it made me sad, it absolutely made me sad, because I want to get this weight off something awful. I'm very proud of me, changing the old habits and picking up the new. . .

Love those apples. . .

Can't do the detours, just looking straight ahead, I know where I've been and I know where I'm going. . .

stupid scale. . . get a life. . . just sitting there playing games with people's head, how's about I don't need you, bucko. . . how's about I know when my pants start falling off, hmmmm I must have lost a helleva lot of weight. . . yeah, that's the ticket. . . anyone want my scale?

Keep it up! Don't be discouraged.

However, the more muscle you have, the easier it will be to lose weight. So you gained 3 pounds. Big deal! Those three pounds are going to help you lose even more.
