Although I don't agree with showing a child how much you make, I do agree with you about teaching a child about money early in life. Every child should be buying their own things with money they earn, either from an allowance or from money they get as a gift.

The best way a child can learn and appreciate things in life, and value the dollar in their pocket is when they see how it works, how when you buy something you lose the money in your pocket, and when you want something you have to save for it. It's all in the choices you make. Sad is the child that gets everything they want and never know the value of things.
