Even if a person cannot do it for themselves, they can do it for the people they love.

I too was a smoker. Upon having to tell my daughters - then 18 and 13 years old - that I had been diagnosed with cancer was the absolute scariest time in my life. My 13 year old sat on the sofa and said "Mom, promise me you won't die". That would have been very unfair to her if my life journey was to end at that time. Instead, I promised her I would fight with everything I had. I promised I would fight to be there for both daughters - graduations, weddings, grandchildren.

I was blessed, and just yesterday passed my 13 year anniversary of cancer survival and along with that, no smoking. The best part........ I have seen both daughters graduate, attended their weddings to men who adore them and have become a Grandmother to four fabulous grandsons.

Take it one day at a time. Look back to the persons you love the most and the ones that want you to survive for them if you cannot do it for yourself. The hard work necessary to reach your goal is more than rewarding....it's worth every minute you get to spend with them for years to come.

I can tell you are a strong willed person, fighter and survivor. A true inspiration to others.

I was reading your last paragraph..."Take it one day at a time." That's all it takes for getting over anything in life I suppose.

Thank you for your uplifting and inspiring response. Take care.
