Do or do not is a false dichotomy. Sometimes our goals are unreachable, not because we haven't put in maximum effort, but because confounding variables or unseen factors. Life isn't a controlled experiment. Sometimes doing your best is all you can do.

I certainly understand what you are saying about circumstances being out of our control (though I have come to believe that through the law of attraction we have more control than we think), but more I was trying to point out that by giving yourself the option for failure, you've just increased the odds of it happening. It's a mindset. Absolutely your best is all you can ever do, but just because I can't run a marathon today doesn't mean I've failed... it just means I'm still in the process of doing it. Just a different way of looking at things, but it is often those subtle differences that are the most profound. = )

I don't know about you but I get excited when I think about how we can all change our lives in an instant with one "real" decision. Not an "I'm going to try" or a "I'll do my best" but a real, no other options decision. This doesn't mean that there won't be bumps along the way (because there will), but once you've truly made a decision...your life will never be the same. You can literally change the course of your life the instant you make a decision. Now that is exciting!!! In my blog I share some lessons I have learned in life and "Decisions" is one of my prerequisites to success. Keep up the good work!!

We have been conditioned to be the way we are, to do the things we do, our entire lives. To try and change aspects of ourselves that we are dissatisfied with is not as easy as just wanting to do it... it takes effort, constant effort - to retrain yourself, to rewire your brain, to un-condition yourself, then recondition yourself in a new different direction.

That is why it is important to come to sites like these, bookmark posts that inspire you, and review them in a week, every month, continually, to reinforce good thoughts and retrain ourselves to be who we really want to be so we can ultimately move away from what most of us unconsciously have become.

Thank you for this blog. I have much to relate to what you were feeling. You have helped me open my eyes to the possibility of getting things done, succeeding in any goal or dream I may set before myself, by simply eliminating one word out of my life. Once again I would like to thank you for a wonderful post.
