Amazing how sometimes we settle into a neighborhood and it takes years to get know the neighbors....

blog
I thought her name was Nancy. My wife thought her name was Mary? Well, her name was and is Mary. Her and her husband were neighbors for almost 15 years, but perhaps because I was out of town a great deal or perhaps because we don't like to feel we are
intruding on folks, we just waved back and forth for  all those years.  I knew her husband had some difficulty with his legs and noticed him from time to time walking slowly to his car.

Where is this all going you ask? Well, just making the point that we are probably no different from most folks, going about making a living, raising our family, walking the dog, taking courses and when there is a minute its usually spent in the yard or on the phone and so goes life....

Recently Mary decided to sell the house and move into a smaller bungalow. She had tools and boards and all kinds of things on her lawn. I just happened to be home that day and my wife was at the cottage.
So dropping by to look at what was being tossed out - and noticing the sign that read FREE, it occured to me that possibly there was something of use for either home or cottage. Sure enough, some tools, a wheelbarrow, lawn edger, and other odds and ends. Off the lawn and into our truck. And yes,
stopping to thank Mary. And she asked after all the years what I did - answer, just a humble aerial photographer and that made her curious...then I noticed golf awards she was tossing out along with some golf balls and cap and other things related to golfing. After all these years we suddenly had this new knowledge of  who our neighbor  over the years had been - just a wave back and forth. And her name was not Nancy....

Perhaps this is a lesson to myself and all the readers that we could benefit from getting to know our neighbors....and they could benefit from getting to know us....after all, as Dad  used to say, folks are pretty much the same, no matter where you are....

Get to know your neighbors!! You will be glad you did!!
