Gosh, it seems a long time ago when my wife and I stayed at the Hilton in Vegas, very same hotel that Elvis kept a suite....

blog
We were amazed, watching a priest (at least someone dressed like a priest) and two nuns - playing the slot machine in Vegas. We have never been high-rollers and did play the slots long enough to win under $100 American. During our efforts someone tried to sell me aligator shoes, the drinks were plenty and we played through the night.

We observed some folks who appeared to have lost life savings and others who just absolutely seemed addicted to gambling. It was my wife who was lucky and after the change chunked along into our
Colonel Saunders chicken bucket, we took the elevator up to our room, and determined we would rent a car and drive to Lake Mead in Arizona.  And we were not even 30 at the time. Gosh that was over 30 years ago.

Its interesting to note that the late Merv Griffin (he passed on in 2007) had owned the Beverly Hills Hilton and had bought it for a cool million bucks. That was l987 when Merv bought the joint and sold it in 2003. Can only imagine it was a "good bet" for Mr, Griffin.

Now if Las Vegas sends along a couple of tickets to fly to Vegas - I might even write another blog??!! Think I am hedging my bet  on this one....
