Getting old is not always what its thought to be.
There is something that can get in the way of being old and frail and that is abuse. Only recently has the media wrestled with the issue. Elder abuse. Where children not only want but demand a fair share of the parents wealth and final estate. After all, they are next in line and there is no reason why they cannot reach into the kitty and grab a handful of that easy money...

You see it on television, there have been stories in your local newspaper and its often such a fine and delicate matter it gets neglected. But elder abuse is not only in some of the senior facilities but right in the very home and place where ma and pa raised the young and the young have gotten restless and in some cases plain ugly and if you ever witness such an issue, do report it.  Older people have rights. Even when they are not in a position to understand those rights. And they require dignity and love, however those basic issues are cast aside when there is either a death or when old people become frail and helpless to a large degree. And get taken
advantage of.

Wherever in the world you live, fight against any kind of elder abuse, for its become an issue at a time when there are more and more old people.
And a nation that looks after its old people is a nation that is truly rich....

I urge every family to keep a careful eye and ear open to the possibility of abuse. Because its out there and often in subtle ways is almost hidden from view. But if we work together to make this place a better place not only for children but for older people, we are working in the right direction....
