I find it sadly amusing when a sibling comments to his or her parents that they did not not know or thought they did not know something.... perhaps we really don't know a great deal about our parents and often find out after they are gone.

I often wished I had sat at the kitchen table with Mom and Dad and had a list of questions and wrote down the answers, because it is truly sad how much we really don't know about our own parents.

And that brings to mind our own children and what they could possibly know and sometimes not know about their mom and dad.

The reason for this is usually quite simple. And that is that everyone is busy with his or her own life.
But it is critical and important to remember that we get the facts right (as Dad used to say) when bringing up an item or issue we may have had with or about our parents.

Parents are busy people too. And often take for granted the many accomplishments in a lifetime. And most folks have more accomplishments than they will admit to. Its just stuff after all. Got busy with something. Took a course. Ah, no big deal.

But yes, it is a big deal to parents that their own family get the facts right - after all, its a cold day sitting at the graveyard trying to explain it all when its too late...

Love does heal. And that we are all thankful for.
