In an earlier blog I wrote about times when we sat down and took the time for a handwritten letter, walked down to the mail box and how technology has changed that. Our family, is more important than ever these days, in these changing times and with faster means of communication, cell phones, etc we have no excuse not to keep in touch with our loved ones...

Then was then. Now is now. Well perhaps, but
a lot of things have not changed. One area in dire need is giving our attention to family.  In my own family, grandparents are gone, parents of my wife and myself are dearly departed...and the rest of us are getting older. So the focus is on immediate family  members, brothers and sisters especially.
Not to leave out friends and neighbors...

The brevity of life is on constant display every day
as we glance into the obituary section of our  newspaper. Dad used to say...if your name is not there...you are going to have a good day!! And that
holds true...

Aviation, improved roadways have made our travels easier. And faster. Not always better.

But amidst the rush and haste of any given day,
we need to get on the phone, call those we love and cherish and remind them of our feelings...
even though they have heard it a hundred times
the simple end of our conversation....love you....
goes a long ways and leaves a lasting impression
of our feelings and concern. That - we must not
let go of...until its time to let go....

Love your family, look after each other and
a smile and kind word  is worth more than all
the tea in China.
