I don’t need to be in a relationship and neither do you. If you’re in one and you like it, stay and enjoy it! If it feels like it’s time to let go, let go. But don’t feel you have to go rushing into someone else’s arms to feel safe and whole again… There are no wild animals threatening the sanctity of your cave anymore.

Ladies, you don’t have to be with a man.

I suppose, back when the men hunted our food and fought off wild beasts and savages, women needed relationships for the safety and protection they provided.  But those days are long gone!  Like many capable, independent, strong and intelligent women, I now provide for my own meat and guard the gates of my own shelter.

So then why does the idea persist that women need men to be complete?  When I was young and still quite impressionable, I watched a movie starring a very handsome John Travolta.  In it, the girl was with one man right up to the day she was with another man.  And even though she was miserable, she stayed with the second man until the first one took her back.   Though her level of commitment to either man seemed a bit suspect to me, I came away with the idea that this was how love worked.  In order to feel safe and secure or to have a life and a future, a girl must be with a boy.

Ridiculous.

No man completes me.  No man paves my way.  This life is mine.  I will be in a relationship with the man and at the time of my choosing.  Because I want it, not because I need it.

As always it is my goal to uplift, inspire and help others to heal their lives.  Thank you for allowing me to be part of that with you.  - Kim
