Its gotta be close to spring, noticed more birds and a squirrel out at the acreage...

blog

I am sure you have been following all the news and much of it certainly not
very pretty when it comes to real estate and the constant reminder of a sort
of downturn thats struggling to get back on its feet.  Talk of values in many
areas in the United States dropping some twenty percent and the same thing
starting to occur in Canada. And yet, babies are being born, the world is
not getting smaller and many of us are not getting younger.

So what do you do? I suppose grin and bear it. Many old timers and I mean
real old timers have seen the depression and lived through some hard times.
But survived and try to pass on some of that knowledge about living lean
and not expecting too much. Its still food for thought these days.

I plan to put in a slightly larger garden this year. Maybe more potatoes.
Nice to be able to grow a few things.  Even a small lot in the city and a few
creative apartment dwellers have started a few veggies in a large growing
container and it not only helps out but gives a certain pleasure - watching
things grow.

Driving out to the acreage last weekend we noticed about 30 or more cars
and trucks had spun out and were settled deep down in the snow waiting
for the tow truck. And that would be a long wait. People just don't seem to
learn to slow down...

A couple of our tool and storage sheds are pretty much history, the roof
falling under the weight of snow. So very much snow up here in Canada and
I understand in parts of  America as well - a tough season.

So don't pack away that hat and boots just yet. You never know how that
wind might turn and what it will bring with it.

For now, we are waiting for another Springtime in Alberta...
