So it is very important to guard your heart with all diligence for out of it flows the issues of life.

We fall down and we get up. We fall down and we get up. We fall down and we get up is a song sung and made famous by Donnie McClurkin. The reference to this song is very true of what happens in many of the lives of Christian believers in today’s society!

With movies, music and the outlets of the news media,  all can present, seduce, and promote living life that is in direct opposition to God’s will.  Once the opposition prevails in a Christian's life, it can produce a spiritual fall that leaves some broken, hurt, and wounded.

Maybe we can all relate to falling off a bike, swing or missing a step.  Then we get up, dust ourselves off check around on our legs and arms to see if we hurt ourselves from the fall to discover a wound on our elbow, cheek or knee. Just like naturally, we fall down but don’t stay there, spiritually, we fall down but pick ourselves up by repenting (1 John 1:9). Then dust ourselves off by moving forward, because we are new creatures in Christ and all things have been made new (2 Cor 5:17). After dusting ourselves off, we may discover a wound that exist from the fall, even though the sin doesn’t exist, but the wound is very real and requires healing(Psalms 103:3, Jer 3:22). Psalms 147:3 says that God heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds, curing their pains and their sorrows.

You know that when a wound comes on our physical body, a blood clot comes out later to form a scab, which is a protective barrier formed over a wound or damaged skin. Just like naturally, we expect our bodies to naturally heal and protect the wound from infection, spiritually we can expect God to heal and bind up our wounds and protect us from infection when we trust Him to. Whenever I cut myself or hurt myself physically, I like to use ointments with antibiotics to anoint myself as an aid to help my body during the healing process. When we trust God to heal us and bind our wounds spiritually, emotionally, physically and with any other area that we need healing in, we use His word as ointment and as an aid in the healing process. Though if a wound is not handled and treated properly during healing, it can, in some cases, cause an infection.

As Christian people it is very important that we are careful to observe what goes in through our eyes, our ears and what comes out of our mouths because once infected with the filthiness of the world, the infection will spread to the heart. Is what we say lining up with the word of God? What we give attention to, does it seduce us towards the world's ways or empower and encourage us to become stronger Christians? Are we hearing words of doubt and unbelief or words that agree with God’s word, because what we hear long enough we will eventually speak!

By protecting these three gates to your heart, is a defensive measure against any weapon that’s formed for it not to prosper.

Be watchful and diligent because the adversary roars about like a lion seeking whom he may devour. So it is very important to guard your heart with all diligence for out of it flows the issues of life. By his stripes we are healed and since I am healed  my new confession is" I am the healed protecting my heart from filthy, negative thinking by carefully selecting what I see, hear and say!!!"
