Random acts of kindness will never, ever be lost, though our perceived freedoms may be.

As I answered yet another automated political phone call today, I remembered the tools discussion.  I am not called at home that often, so when available and not sleeping, I tend to answer.  I am on the no-call list of both state and federal but guess what, they do not disallow political calls, personal or automated.  Go figure.  A small rant here, I guess.

I took a foster dog back to his rescue last Friday.  I had had him for over two years; his nickname was "Sir Barksalot."  We did well together but he did not do well with change - and dogs change here all the time.  Scout needed a smaller foster so he would stop bloodying other dogs :(.  So, sadly but hopefully for his benefit, I took him back.  The pack, BTW, is much more at ease without him - which is good but sad, too.  We met in Blytheville, AR.  On my way home, I stopped at Wal-Mart to get some candles (made in the USA - nice surprise).  At the check-out lane, a woman motioned me ahead of her family.  I thanked her.  When I was checked out, she handed me a card from their church, saying I was the recipient of an "act of love" and "random act of kindness."  I have a website to which I can reply and will.  I will also bring this idea to our church - a very simple way to let others know why we act in love.  My church has a website, too.  That act of kindness was more appreciated under the circumstances of handing off Scoutie Pie.

The fact that "everyone" has a website these days, including me, is sometimes dismaying to me.  I realize there are is a large percentage of the population who do not have Internet access or are very limited - and across the world, it is even worse - though in Asia, I hear smartphones or iPods, etc. are derigour.   It bothers me to think we are disenfranchising multiples of people by moving so much to the Web.  It also bothers me to think of how my money, personal information, etc. is in the Internet cloud - who can access all that?  End times will include the Internet for sure and not for good :(.

Random acts of kindness will never, ever be lost, though our perceived freedoms may be.
