While at breakfast Christmas Morning after opening their gifts Robert one of "Our Guys" waved his hands over his plate and gifts and said to me that "This is a homeless mans dream come true".

About 10 days before Christmas we told "Our Guys" that we were going to take them to breakfast Christmas morning. A week before Christmas we picked up a to go menu and took it over to their camp. At which time Robert took the menu folded it neatly and placed it in his bag.
As the days went by "Our Guys" started to read the menu and plan with much enthusiasm what they were going to order.
Given the fact that the diner was one of the few places open on Christmas we found that we needed to be there early in order to get a table and have the time we wanted to spend for a nice relaxed breakfast and time for "Our Guys" to open their gifts and warm up.
At breakfast we surprised "Our Guys" with a wrapped gift, a gift bag and an over flowing stocking. Once we saw the looks on their faces there was no need for words of thanks although there were plenty.
PR looking at his gift box said this is the first gift I've had in 3 years. He had tears in his eyes. Robert another one of "Our Guys" waved his hand over his plate and gifts and said to me that "This is a homeless mans dream come true".
Leading up to Christmas I had these men who have little if any possessions repeatedly ask me what I wanted for Christmas. After realizing that not only would they not take "nothing" as my answer I also realized that perhaps I was denying them the same enjoyment that we receive when we give gifts.
Finally when asked again I replied that what I wanted was to have Christmas breakfast with them and a Christmas card. What I received was much more then a simple Christmas card. I was given a beautiful Christmas card with a heart felt note written by each one of them, and memories that both my husband and I will keep for ever.
This has to be one of the best Christmas breakfasts that I have ever had.
